If you read my blog you will see the newest post about Cassie Gan collection, she is the first young designer I discussed on my blog. I have to admit when I first started blogging, I didn't care much about young designers. I found it hard to connect to their collections and it is hard to find their runway pictures or something like that. But a week ago I found out that it is very hard to be a fashion designer and it is even harder to graduate from fashion college. You have to get the right connection and ideas to impress the judges. This part is quite interesting, people say that fashion is something easy 'just be yourself' kind of thing, but the truth is it is hard.
One point that makes a lot of young designers failed to be real high-fashion designer is how they create their collections. They didn't pick the right ideas or the right moment to launch it or the editors simply don't like it. Their collections have to represent who they are as designers and at the same time have to be wearable, chic and very marketing in order to gain some popularity, good reviews and customers.
Even when they are succeed in creating clothes, it isn't the guarantee that their clothes will be a success in public. Marketing is a fatal point for brand to gain popularity and money. And, the truth is money is kind off everything in fashion. You have to prepare some amount of money to make clothes, lend auditorium (or even better saloon) to show it then sometimes (it can be called cheating) you have to make the guests happy by giving them freebies and entertain them,all of these are normal in fashion. Even the big brands do something like these and believe it or not, they spend a lot of money every season.And, the most bitter thing is they don't always get their money back.
Young designers don't have this kind of money, they are trying to create amazing collections with small budgets and you there is a big difference between vision and real thing. That's why, I think, young designers' collections sometimes don't represent their highest ability.They're to concern about the budgets and how the public will talk about their clothes.
I can write longer about this thing but I don't think it will help them. So, now I am trying to do the same thing like Sussie Bubble, I am going to publish every young designer that I know or aware on my wordpress blog. gimmegoodpicture.wordpress.com. I am not the biggest blogger or the most famous one. But, I have friends and twitter's followers and I hope they will see or at least read about it (I hope they'll find out more). I think as one of those who like fashion, I have to support it a little bit, right ?
